Individuals need to personally remove the stigma of mental health. Changing perspectives and eliminating stigma is more powerful than any policy. Nonetheless, providing supportive housing and services is the first step toward healthier communities.
Victoria needs a nightly drop-in centre or 24/7 mental health service facility. Most of mental health agencies in Victoria are closed after 6pm, leaving vulnerable individuals on the streets overnight. Many individuals with mental health illnesses require assistance and attention from law enforcement officers or emergency healthcare professionals overnight causing strain on the system.
Further, creating clusters of supportive housing in every neighbourhood in Victoria adds diversity and inclusivity. Those that are healthy and able need to support the vulnerable in community.
