Mental Health

We each need to personally grow in empathy towards people with suffering form mental illnesses. Changing perspectives and reducing stigma is more powerful than any policy. Nonetheless, providing supportive housing and services is the first step toward healthier communities.

Victoria needs a nightly drop-in centre or 24/7 mental health service facility. Most mental health agencies in Victoria are closed after 6pm, leaving vulnerable individuals on the streets overnight. Many individuals with mental health illnesses require assistance and attention and law enforcement officers or emergency healthcare professionals may not be the best equipped. We need social workers and wrap around care.

Further, creating clusters of supportive housing in every neighbourhood in Victoria adds diversity and inclusivity. Those that are healthy and able need to support the vulnerable in community.
